Car accidents: Hit-and-run crash sends 1 to the hospital
Leaving the scene of a crash causes problems for the driver and any injured victims. A 38-year-old man was left behind after an alleged drunk driver smashed into his vehicle in Georgia and then drove away. Such car accidents can leave victims with financial and emotional damages if hit-and-run drivers remain at large.
Fortunately, in most cases, law enforcement catches up with hit-and-run drivers. In this case, it was the actions of a Good Samaritan that led to the driver’s arrest. According to a preliminary crash report, a 29-year-old driver and two passengers were traveling in an SUV in West Macon at about 5:30 p.m. on a recent Monday. Their vehicle collided with the other car and left the scene.
Reportedly, a Good Samaritan followed the fleeing driver and alerted law enforcement. The sheriff’s deputies soon located the alleged hit-and-run driver, and the fact that her vehicle still had a piece of the other car attached to it made identification easier. The driver was arrested, and she is now facing charges for impaired driving and leaving a crash scene with injuries.
The injured man was rushed to a hospital, and, with the alleged drunk driver in custody, he can now pursue a claim for financial relief through the Georgia civil justice system. Recovering economic and noneconomic damages after suffering injuries in car accidents involves complicated legal proceedings, but the support and guidance of an experienced personal injury attorney can simplify the process. Losses that are typically recoverable include medical expenses and lost income, along with pain and suffering and other emotional damages.
