Car accidents involving big rigs are often fatal

Sharing the Georgia highways with big rigs put motorists at significant risks. The slightest error can cause car accidents involving commercial vehicles, and the sheer difference in size and weight could cause fatalities. In one such a tragic accident, a driver and her daughter lost their lives and several passengers ended up in the hospital.

According to local and state authorities, the fiery crash occurred on a recent Monday morning at an intersection in Wilkinson County. Reportedly, a 35-year-old woman was westbound on Ga. Route 112 in an SUV with two of her daughters and three other passengers. Reportedly, when the SUV driver reached the intersection with Ga. Route 29, she allegedly failed to yield to a tractor-trailer that was heading south.

According to authorities, the big rig struck the SUV’s passenger side, and both vehicles erupted in flames. The driver and her 13-year-old daughter lost their lives. Another daughter of the SUV driver suffered injuries, and she was rushed to a Macon hospital along with three other victims. A helicopter was used to take two critically injured passengers, and ambulances transported the other two. The driver of the truck reportedly suffered no injuries.

When passengers suffer injuries in car accidents that were caused by the driver’s negligence, they might have grounds to pursue claims to recover damages. In this case, the two passengers who were not related to the driver can discuss their legal right with an experienced Georgia personal injury attorney. This is a challenging field of the law, and the chances of obtaining reimbursement for economic and noneconomic damages will be significantly higher with the support and guidance of legal counsel.
